Il-Ħaġar | Heart of Gozo Museum and Cultural Centre is situated in the heart of Victoria (Rabat), the main town on the island of Gozo. This centre aims to offer visitors an authentic experience of Gozitan heritage and Christian culture, highlighting the history of the island through its people, their beliefs, skills, and products. Established and managed by Fondazzjoni Belt Victoria, an enrolled voluntary organisation founded in 1998, Il-Ħaġar reflects the collective efforts of the community, supported by significant contributions from individuals, corporate entities, and financing from the European Regional Development Fund.

Opened officially in 2013, the museum houses a valuable collection of artistic and historical artifacts from St George’s Parish Basilica, along with various donations and bequests. Notably, the museum holds an extensive collection from Prof. Joseph Vella, comprising 156 original compositions and numerous sketches, CDs, and memorabilia, forming the Joseph Vella Music Archive.

Il-Ħaġar features a permanent collection, temporary exhibition spaces, audio-visual rooms, and a recently refurbished rooftop terrace bar offering stunning views of St George’s Basilica, the Castello, Victoria's skyline, and Gozo’s rural landscape. The centre is entirely run by volunteers, ranging from students to retirees from various sectors, ensuring it remains open daily from 09:00 to 17:00.
