Today, the Gozo Motocross Association stands as an officially recognized entity, delivering pulse-pounding, exhilarating, and demanding racing events that unfold throughout the season in Gozo. Here we’re looking at some of the highlights:
The main activities of the Gozo Motocross Association occur at Ta’ Xħajma Racing Track. Each season entails an annual championship together with several other events. The championship starts in September/October and ends around May/June. It consists of 8 racing Sundays – 5 rounds, quarter-final, semi-final and final.
The events organised by Gozo Motocross Association span different categories – A, B, C. This season, many are following the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2024/25. The riders are categorised according to their ability and their success in previous competitions, where Class A is the highest level one can attain. Other events at Ta’ Xħajma Racing Track include Fun Races where competitions are friendly and riders of typical Classes are shuffled.
From time to time, the Gozo Motocross Association organises special events like the XTreme Trials & EnduroCross which was in previous years held in the main village square in Munxar (by daylight) and in Ta’ Kerċem (by night). This consisted of a man-made track over a tumolo of land lit by artificial lighting. Riders rode their bikes over an array of obstacles that were placed to create a track.
This year’s Xtreme Trials and Enduro Cross-Edition 3 will be held in July. The races will be held at Ta’ Kerċem on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th July in the evening.
Following the success of the Gozo Enduro held in Marsalforn last November, Gozo Motocross Association is currently organising the Gozo Enduro Rally in April 2017. More information about this event will be available soon. Other events like the special Motocross Night Events that will be held at Ta’ Xħajma Racing Track are also in the pipeline.
All riders are welcome. Local, national and international riders can join the events organised by Gozo Motocross Association. GMA invites families, children, adolescents, adults and elders to enjoy the thrilling spectacle that these competitions offer.
