Xlendi Bay is a picturesque and popular seaside destination known for its dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and quaint charm. Originally a tiny fishing village, Xlendi has evolved into a bustling small resort that attracts both tourists and locals throughout the year.

Adding to the historical allure of Xlendi Bay is the Xlendi Tower, the oldest free-standing coastal watchtower in Gozo. Built during the reign of Grand Master Lascaris in 1650, the tower was designed to defend Xlendi Bay and keep out smugglers, pirates, and quarantine evaders.
The Tower, 35 feet square and rising to a height of 30 courses, boasts an architecturally unique platform jutting out seawards. Initially armed with two 6-pounder iron guns, replaced with two 4-pounders, the tower was manned by a Capo Mastro (Detachment Commander later) and a Bombardier (gunner), supported by additional guards at night. From the rising cliffs of Ras il-Bajda, the tower commands an extensive view of the southwestern approaches to Gozo and the entrance to the Comino Channel. It served as the guardian of the bay until 1871.
The area around Xlendi is also rich in history, with archaeological finds dating back to the Punic-Byzantine era. The local village life adds to the bay's charm, with several restaurants lining the waterfront, perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal with a view. Popular activities include exploring the bay's hidden caves, and participating in local events like the Gostra and Xlendi Village Feast, held annually on the first Sunday of September.
